Five surfbreaks surround the island providing every level of surfer the opportunity for either insane barrels, longboard, right hand, beach and children's breaks. These photos are of the world renowned King Kong Left - to which, unlike other breaks in Fiji, you need only paddle out to from the island....
The waves were some of the heaviest and biggest I have ever surfed, with one day the faces being 10ft and resembling something like a mini-Teahapoo, really intimidating stuff! There were a few days when we couldn’t actually surf as the white water from the breaks was 20ft thick. If you looked to the horizon you could see what looked like islands floating across the horizon, these were actually offshore bombies, with 30 feet faces, the likes of which would challenge even Laird himself.
On the remote and magnificent island of Nagigia, a new eco-tourist hideaway boasts secluded splendor, and some insane surf. Forget Cloudbreak, this is the NEW spot in Fiji for deep, hollow and thick barrels!!! Like Cloudbreak the island enjoys surf spots that are offshore in the prevailing winds. There is an excellent viewing platform on land near the left hand tube break for spectators and getting those unforgettable barrel pics. http://www.travel.com.au/
